Winter
Winter is our busiest and most sought after season – and with good reason. Gore Mountain, the largest ski area in New York state, is by far the biggest area attraction and is located just 5 minutes away. The mountain boasts over 70 downhill trails on 398 skiable acres and also offers over 20km of cross country and snowshoeing trails.  NEW this year check out the high speed quad and new trails on the Burnt Ridge area at Gore Mountain.  As always your lift ticket at Gore Mountain is also good at Whiteface Mountain – home of the 1980 Winter Olympics. There are many other winter attractions in the area as well. Tubing is great family fun and is located 2 minutes away at the North Creek Ski Bowl. Garnet Hill Lodge is close by in North River and boasts 55km of groomed cross country and snowshoeing trails serviced by shuttle bus. There is easy access to our famed Adirondack snowmobile trails and if you don’t have your own snowmobile there are many outfitters that rent snowmobiles and offer guided tours.

Spring
As the season winds down at Gore Mountain (closing day is usually around mid April), whitewater season starts heating up. Spring brings melting snow and April showers which combine to make this the most EXCITING whitewater rafting area in the North East. The Hudson River is rated as one of the top ten whitewater rivers in the United States and if you are looking for big water (class IV+) then this is the time for you to visit. Many whitewater outfitters operate in North Creek and we can recommend the best. If you are a real adrenaline junkie most outfitters take April and early May trips to the Moose River (Class V).  Some companies offer two day combined trips if you want to try your hand at both rivers in the same weekend. Spring also sees the Upper Hudson River Railroad in North Creek begin running again with scenic railroad trips along the Hudson River.  Don’t miss Thomas the Tank Engine’s return to North Creek in May.  Last year’s appearance in North Creek saw Thomas receive rock star crowds so be sure to book your tickets early!

Summer
Summer is one of the most enjoyable seasons in the Adirondacks with warm days and cool nights.  Whitewater trips on the Hudson are a bit tamer and the water is much warmer making this a great family activity.  Garnet Hill Lodge's cross country trails change to mountain biking trails and are serviced by shuttle bus.  You can bring your own bike or rent one at the hill.  Hiking is a great activity and many trails located within close proximity to North Creek.  Boating, fishing, canoing, kayaking, swimming and fly fishing are all close by.  North Creek is located within 15 minutes of Schroon Lake, Loon Lake, Friends Lake, 13th Lake, Adirondack Lake, Lake Abanakee, and Indian Lake.  Lake George and
Blue Mountain Lake are within 30 minutes drive.  Many lakes offer boat rentals, guided kayak/canoe trips, public beaches, and guided fishing trips.  In late July Gore Mountain begins offering weekend gondola rides to the top of Bear Mountain.  There are many festivals and concerts in the area including the North Creek Bluegrass Festival in late August.  Golf is another fabulous summer activity and there are at least 10 courses located within 30 minutes drive. The golf courses are almost never crowded and most offer gorgeous views of the Adirondacks in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Fall
Fall is the most spectacular season for sightseeing in the Adirondacks.  There are many ways you can take in the gorgeous views including taking a drive, hiking, taking a whitewater trip, riding the scenic railroad, and riding the gondola at Gore Mountain.  Fall foliage brings a multitude of festivals including the North Creek Harvest Festival in early October.  Most winter outfitters use this weekend to clear out their previous years merchandise so you can find some great deals.  There is live entertainment and good food all weekend.

Why fight the traffic and long lift lines at Killington, Mount Snow (Mt. Snow), Stratton, Okemo, Berkshires, Bromley, Jay Peak, Mad River Glen, Sunday River, Stowe, Smugglers Notch, Sugarbush, Whiteface (Lake Placid), or Hunter (Hunter Mountain) when you can head straight up the New York Thruway to Gore Mountain in the Adirondacks and feel like you have the place to yourself?
